The day is commonly spent by Filipinos in malls and parks. Numerous Filipino groups abroad celebrate the nation's Independence Day as well.

The nation's independence day, the sacrifices made by its national heroes are commemorated, the sovereignty of the nation is honored, nationalism is instilled in the populace, and the culture and traditions of the nation's people are celebrated.

Furthermore, Independence Day, which commemorates the country's independence from Spanish dominion on June 12, 1898, is one of the most important events in Philippine history. On June 12, Filipinos commemorate it annually and public holiday is observed on July 4. The majority of businesses and schools are closed because it is a public holiday. he Philippine national flag is shown, and Government offices are closed on Independence Day in the Philippines because it is a national holiday.  In every school, there aren't any classes.  All businesses save for shopping malls are closed. Even when parade-related streets are closed, public transportation like buses, passenger jeeps, and tricycles continue to run, but their routes may be constrained.
